Lenovo today announced the new K5 Note. The phablet has a 5.5 inch screen and an aluminum housing. What is striking is that the Chinese manufacturer only a few weeks ago presented the K4 Note.
Lenovo has managed to fit in a device which is just on the market, to be replaced within a few weeks with a successor. Lenovo K4 Note was unveiled in Las Vegas during the CES trade show. Today the company announces that there is a Lenovo K5 Note.
It is very unclear why Lenovo chose two launches in quick succession. Lenovo phones look pretty similar in terms of specifications. The appearance has changed, but whether it is in favor of the K5 Note is still the question.
The Lenovo K5 Note has a 5.5 inch full HD display with a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. This screen is incorporated into an aluminum casing that creates a premium feel. The processor inside is a Mediatek Helio P10 octacoreprocessor supported by 2GB of RAM. Furthermore, there is 16 GB expandable storage memory.
The cameras have a rear 8-megapixel sensor and a front 13-megapixel sensor. It is clear that Lenovo with the K5 Note focuses on selfiemakers. The device includes a 3500 mAh battery with fast charging. As additional features there is a fingerprint sensor on the back and the speaker on the back a built-in Dolby Atmos surround amplifier.
Compared to Q4 Note the K5 is not really a big step forward. In K4 Note there was another option with 3 GB of memory and the speakers are at the device front. The K5 this is at the back. From experience we know that a speaker at the front is always better. The K5 Note does have the advantage of an aluminum case. The K4 has a plastic case with a matte black finish, the aluminum housing is likely a more premium feel to the device.
Both the Lenovo K4 and K5 Note Note are not yet available in the Netherlands. Lenovo, with its smart phones available yet on the Dutch market. It could just be that the K5 was launched so soon after Q4 because of an international launch. For now the K4 and K5 will only be available in the Oriental countries
