Lenovo today announced the new K5 Note. The phablet has a 5.5 inch screen and an aluminum housing. What is striking is that the Chinese manufacturer only a few weeks ago presented the K4 Note.
Lenovo has succeeded to a device that has just been on the market, to be replaced within a few weeks by a successor. Lenovo Q4 Note was unveiled at the CES show in Las Vegas. Today the company announced that Lenovo K5 Note is.
It is very unclear why Lenovo chose two launches in quick succession. Lenovo phones are similar in specifications pretty similar. The appearance has changed, but whether that is to the advantage of the K5 Note is still the question.
Lenovo K5 Note has a 5.5 inch full HD display with a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. This screen is incorporated in an aluminum housing which provides a premium feel. The processor that’s inside is a Mediatek Helio P10 octacoreprocessor supported by 2GB of RAM. Furthermore, there is 16GB of expandable storage memory.
The cameras have a rear 8-megapixel sensor and a front 13-megapixel sensor. It is clear that the Lenovo K5 Note focuses on selfiemakers. The device includes a 3500 mAh battery with fast charging. As additional features, there is a fingerprint sensor on the back and the speaker on the rear incorporates a Dolby Atmos surround amplifier.
Compared to Q4 Note is the K5 not really a big step forward. In Q4 Note there was another option with 3 GB of memory and the speakers are at the device front. At the K5 this is at the back. From experience we know that it is always better to have a speaker at the front. The K5 Note does have the advantage of an aluminum housing. The K4 has a plastic housing with a matte black finish, the aluminum housing is likely to more premium feel to the device.
Both the Lenovo Q4 discs as K5 discs are not yet available in the Netherlands. Lenovo with its smartphones are not yet available on the Dutch market. It could just be that the K5 was launched so soon after the K4 for an international launch. For now the K4 and K5 will only be available in Asian countries
