going for years rumors that Samsung would like to introduce an iris scanner for its high-end Android smartphones, but it would seem that the company first wants to test the technology with a tablet. Namely Samsung today introduced the Galaxy Tab Iris, which as the name suggests, is equipped with an iris scanner. Earlier this year, an iris camera was discovered in the import-export database Zauba, however, was at that time still thought that this part would be used for the Galaxy Note 6.
The Galaxy Tab Iris is a unique product developed by Samsung India as part of the government program “Made for India”. Samsung believes the iris scanner will ensure that it is no longer necessary to use separate devices for biometric identification and expects that in the future citizens income tax, passport renewal, property registration and other similar tasks can handle paperless.
Samsung also introduced an Identity SDK allows app developers can benefit from the presence of the iris scanner. Apps that handle sensitive information, such as banks and governments, can easily verify the user in this way. Currently, the iris scanner will only be available for the Galaxy Tab Iris, but it is obvious that in the near future more Android devices to make use of this technology. The company sees great potential in the iris scanner and it will come as no surprise as its future high-end phones and tablets for consumers in the short term is equipped with an iris scanner.
The device launched today was launched designed for government and the rest of the specifications have not put much. The Iris Tab features a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 600 x 1024 pixels and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. There is 8GB of available storage memory which can be expanded via a memory card. At the back we find 5-megapixel camera, which is also suitable according to Samsung for scanning documents. The tablet runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and has a 3600mAh battery
