Tele Week 21: News about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5! – All About Phones

Time for a nice long Whitsun weekend! Of course we start him with the Tele Week, numero 21 again. This week we discuss Samsung, Lenovo, Motorola, LG, HTC and T-Mobile.

Sales of the HTC One M9 disappointing

Tele Week 21

HTC launched at the MWC the One M9, its new flagship. In essence, this is just a One M8 with more current hardware which HTC 100 euros extra charges. After the release, the reviews were not favorable. The design was not innovative, the camera and the screen is not as good and the smartphone gives you burn if you require a lot of him.

It is therefore not surprising that sales of the HTC One M9 so a little disappointing. With HTC react to it now. Not verbally, but by 30 per cent fewer parts to order for the smartphone. Painful. Now throw the price down and maybe it will be indeed what smartphone. Because a phone from us a 6 which is now more expensive than the Galaxy S6? That can not?

Lenovo the world number three behind Samsung and Apple

 Motorola Moto E 2015 design

Then a manufacturer seems his act is in order to have Lenovo. The Chinese manufacturer Motorola took last year on Google, and that appears to be a good step. Thanks to the share of Motorola, Lenovo now occupied namely the world’s third place behind Samsung and Apple. It has competitors like Huawei and LG made up.

LG incidentally, is also doing well, by bringing in Xiaomi. Especially in North America, go to the South Koreans nice. This is because LG has created a number of affordable 4G smartphones, which are in great demand. The G Flex 2 is also already gone once or 750 thousand over the counter. And then selling the G4 is yet to start …

This network is not yet covered nationally, but that is the end of October is the case.

T-Mobile already has the fastest 4G network, with download speeds averaging around 37 megabits per second and upload of about 17 megabits per second. Vodafone and KPN are quite a bit slower, it turns out about 80 thousand Ookla tests.

“Successor Samsung Galaxy Note S Pen Edge gets no more ‘- GSM Helpdesk Netherlands

New information shows that the successor to the current Samsung Galaxy Note Edge probably will not have an S Pen. This has the usually well-informed Samsung fansite SamMobile heard from its sources. The question is whether the successor to the Note Edge last year still will be part of Samsung’s Galaxy Note family.

According to SamMobile is a successor to the Note Edge of last year, developed under the codename ” Project Zero 2 ‘. This is striking since the beginning of this year presented Samsung Galaxy Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge both also developed under the code name ‘Project Zero’. The code name thus seems to betray the successor to the Note Edge actually go a bigger version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge promises to be -. Without S Pen

In September 2014 Samsung presented at the IFA in Berlin Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. Over the past four years, Samsung has not once broken with its own tradition for the IFA to present a new generation of its Galaxy Note phablets. The expectation is that Samsung during the upcoming IFA, in the second week of September, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is present and probably also comes with a successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.

According to SamMobile Samsung is also working on new accessories for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the successor to the Galaxy Note Edge. Thus Samsung would have a keyboard cover ‘in development that can be clicked on to the unit. Keyboard covers for smartphones are not really prevalent, these tablets come in more often.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 does not come in July, possibly with keyboard – Techzine

The CEO of Samsung has announced the Galaxy Note 5 is not the end of July will be published or presented. Thus, the Galaxy Note 5 just seems to reappear during the IFA. Furthermore, there are sources that say that Samsun is working on getting a special cover for the Galaxy Note 5 to the device a physical keyboard.

Earlier this week, rumors surfaced that Samsung launch Galaxy Note 5 fetched forward to better compete with Apple. The company would like to create more time between the launch of the Note 5 and the following iPhone phablet, probably the iPhone 6S Plus. The CEO of Samsung, JK Shin, that rumor has now almost completely negated by setting the Note 5 is not the end of July will appear.

Furthermore, today turns the rumor that Samsung was working on a special keyboard cover for the Galaxy Note 5 that a physical keyboard is added to the device. This would, after years of absence, the physical keyboard to return to the smartphone market again.

Actually, BlackBerry is still the only manufacturer that dares to venture into a physical keyboard, but that mark in recent years virtually the scene disappeared.

According to rumors, the Galaxy Note 5 gets a screen of 5.4 or 5.5 inches. Goes the rumor that the Note 5 Edge no S Pen (stylus) get more. In our view a bit strange because the device does not honor the name discs anymore. It would therefore be surprised if this rumor proves to be true. We do see a problem like Samsung this time both sides will finalize the Galaxy Note 5 Edge, because indeed there is not much room for the S-Pen. So the question is to find what Samsung importantly, two rounded edges or an S-Pen? Both seem very difficult given the limited space in the unit.

galaxy note Edge Project Zero 2

The specially designed Galaxy Note Edge appeared late last year in the UK.

At least that says SamMobile . Earlier was the successor to the Galaxy Note Edge still known as “Project Zen ‘. The new job title will probably not be the final name of the flagship, but what we do expect is not known.

SamMobile claims more that no device will be equipped with a stylus, but it probably is a larger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge. Reportedly Samsung unveils the successor to the Galaxy Note Edge and the new Galaxy Note 5 at IFA in Berlin, which takes place this year from 4 to September 9th. Both devices have an optional transparent case and possibly a keyboard case available. With this latest accessory appliances are perhaps to conjure up small Android PCs.

Samsung presents Galaxy Note 5 possible end of July – Techzine

According to the South Korean Web site Whowired is Samsung Galaxy Note 5 present already in late July, Everybody goes there at this time assumes that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 early September will present at the IFA in Berlin. Samsung would like to bring forward the launch to increase the gap with Apple, the company thinks that way to better compete.

Samsung now has chosen for several years for the next Galaxy Note presenting at the IFA consumer electronics trade fair in Berlin. This year the company will depart from there if we can believe Whowired. Samsung wants to make the period between the launch of the Galaxy Note and the new iPhone 5 bigger, so that it can better compete with Apple, especially since the company from Cupertino is also active on the phabletmarkt.

Although this rumor we normally would refer to the realm of fiction, it totally does not sound so strange, Samsung wants to sell as many Galaxy Note devices and now Apple since last year is also active on the phabletmarkt must keep this in mind. Moving the date on which the device available then certainly belongs to the possibilities.

It is expected that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 well on the shovel goes this year, with Samsung also will choose this unit a metal housing and glass, and a private Exynos processor instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon. According to rumors, the Galaxy Note 5 gets a screen of 5.89 inches and the Galaxy Note 5 Edge a screen of 5.78 inches. Furthermore, the devices would only be 7,9mm thick. Of course, the devices are equipped with the familiar S-Pen.

Plus iPhone 6 vs. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge – MacWorld

Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus is a great smartphone for the first time in the history of Apple phabletmarkt enters with a screen of 5.5 inch. This makes it a strong competitor of smartphones with similar size from rivals such as Samsung. Here we look at how the iPhone 6 Plus compares to Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge. Read also: This is how the iPhone 6 Plus there from within

Pricing and Availability

<- dfp ad #ad_mpu_article ->

First, let’s look at the prices of these two smartphones. Both are clear premium, high-end smartphones, but the Galaxy Note Edge has a higher sales price than the iPhone 6 Plus. This is perhaps surprising given that Apple price tags so high that few rivals dare go higher.

The Galaxy Note Edge will cost € 849 on the Samsung website, while the iPhone 6 Plus with 16GB of storage € 799 cost. If you 64GB on the iPhone 6 Plus would like you have € 899 count down while you have to think for 128GB at a price of € 999.

Both smartphones are a serious investment, so it is not a decision by Most people taken just as quickly.

The iPhone 6 Plus and the Galaxy Note Edge were launched both in September 2014 and can be purchased in the Netherlands at various shops and network providers.

Design and construction

We believe the iPhone 6 Plus a stunning smartphone, with its anodized aluminum casing that is available in gold, silver or “space gray”, subtly rounded design (which applies even to the edges of the screen, which are slightly rounded for a comfortable experience) and even the round home button where a matching metal ring around it which contains the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

 _ iPhone_6_PLUS_in 01-hand.jpg

He is super-thin (only 7,1mm) and weighs only 172 grams.

But there are disadvantages. The device really needs a case because it is very fast scratch and of course there is the whole Bend Gate debacle. We are not entirely convinced of the camera on the back, on a very un-Apple-like way protrudes slightly outward.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge also looks attractive, especially thanks to the unusual screen. About that later on.

 _ 02 Samsung Galaxy Note-Edge-back.jpg

The machine has a removable leatherette back. The rest of the housing consists of glass, plastic and metal. We are not really fond of the faux leather effect, but it is an advantage that you replace it with a new or a flip cover when damaged.

Note Edge with its 8.3 mm thicker then the iPhone 6 Plus, but the weight is almost the same (174 gram).

Screen

Now it gets really interesting, because the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge stands out because of its huge curved screen and the fact that the screen to the edges folded around (hence the name Edge).

The Edge of the Note screen is 5.6 inches diagonally, slightly larger than that of the iPhone 6 Plus (5.5 inches), and that does not include the sleek, curved “Edge” section of the screen.

What the resolution and pixel density concerns trump the screen of the Note Edge to the iPhone 6 Plus with its 2560 x 1440 and 160 extra pixels in the width of the Edge. As a result, the Quad HD, with a pixel density of up to 524ppi.

 _ 03 Samsung Galaxy Note-Edge display.jpg

The iPhone 6 Plus contrast, has a 401ppi screen with a resolution of 1920×1080. This is still great for watching movies, playing games and so on, but of course it can not match the discs Edge.

What, however, iPhone 6 Plus has not been that little bit of extra screen space Edge of the Note, which works completely independently of the rest of the screen. It can be used to display various types of content viewing, including time, app icons, alerts, buttons, and even specially designed games. Moreover, it can be used when the main is off to see for example how fast it is.

 _ 04 Samsung Galaxy Note-Edge features.jpg

We have spent some time with the Note Edge and found that it was often no more than a gimmick, even though it is sometimes handy. Nevertheless, it’s nice to see something new and different and it could be quite useful in the future as more applications will use.

There go some rumors that Apple could something similar for future iPhones use. Apple has several patents pending on something the company calls “Sidewall displays,” which offer similar functionality as the screen of Samsung’s edge, on the sides of the iPhone

Hardware & amp.; Performance

Now, let’s look at the inside of these two smartphones to see where they run on.

The iPhone 6 Plus has a very powerful A8 chip in combination with an M8 coprocessor which helps with efficiency, plus 1GB of RAM so energy-hungry apps and graphics-intensive games without hitches will run.

The Edge Galaxy Note has a 2.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM. We are still working on our benchmark tests, but we expect results very close will be those of the Galaxy Note 4, which contains the same processor.

Here is a summary of those results to give you an idea. The Galaxy Note 4 did better in the Geekbench 3 processor test, but what browser performance and graphics performance concerns, he could not beat the iPhone 6 Plus (lower is better).

 table.jpg

The iPhone 6 Plus offers different storage options: 16GB, 64GB or 128GB. After purchase, you can not expand the storage space.

The Galaxy Note Edge has 32GB of internal memory, but he also has a microSD card slot lets you expand the memory up to 128GB.

Both the iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy Note Edge offer 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth (4.0 for iPhone, 4.1 for the Note Edge), 4G LTE and NFC (although the NFC chip in the iPhone is currently limited to Apple Pay). The Galaxy Note Edge also has an IR Blaster.

Cameras

We’re really talking about the camera of the iPhone 6 Plus. The 8MP camera on the back and 1.5-micron pixels in combination with an f / 2.2 aperture and optical image stabilization, resulting in sharp, clear images – even in low light. There’s also a dual LED flash on true-tone.

 _ iPhone_6_PLUS_photography.jpg 05

You can record videos in 1080p HD with 60fps and 240fps slow motion in 720p.

But the camera on the front is just 1.2MP, which is not good news for fans of selfies. The camera on the front of the Galaxy Note Edge is slightly better with 3,7MP and a wide selfie mode to capture more of your surroundings.

The camera on the back of the Galaxy Note Edge is beautiful, with its 16MP and optical image stabilization, but he does not have the larger pixels.

In general, both smartphones as great cameras, perfect for holiday photos, videos during a concert, and so on.

Additional Features

As I said earlier, there is under the home button of the iPhone 6 Plus a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. This improves security, especially when you use the mobile payment function NFC Apple Pay, which not too long in the Netherlands will arrive.

The Galaxy Note Edge also has a fingerprint sensor, plus a UV sensor and a heart rate monitor on the back. In addition, the Galaxy Note Edge S Pen stylus which provides an additional interaction method for your smartphone.

Software

Software is one of the most important aspects of the purchase decision when it comes to smartphones and it is especially difficult because it often comes down to personal preference. But if the software does not meet the overall user experience will be negative, how great the specifications of your smartphone may be.

The iPhone 6 Plus runs on Apple’s iOS 8 and we in the newsroom are as Mac Users love it. But if you have long been used Android you are there probably disagree. The Edge Galaxy Note runs on Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop (the device comes with 4.4 KitKat, but there is currently a Lollipop update rolled out for the Note Edge).

Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages, so if you are considering to move from one to another to move it’s a good idea to look at what you can expect and how they relate to each other . However, remember that if you change and you have a lot of apps and other content downloaded in the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store, you’ll need to download everything again (and this can cost money).

Conclusion

Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge offers certainly something new, even though we felt that the novelty wears off quickly once you realize that the utility has its limitations. It is a powerful smartphone with great specifications, especially when we are talking about that wonderful Quad HD display.

But with a price tag of € 849 you would pay for less money could buy an iPhone 6 Plus with its beautiful, stylish design that we love so much, the great graphics performance and of course iOS 8.

Here at Macworld, we tend to choose the iPhone 6 Plus, not least because we have a lot of content from the iOS App Store and already have set up an iCloud account, plus other security features that help us to make our workflow between iPhone, iPad and Mac super efficient to have his.

But if you are open to Android, are intrigued have the Edge-screen and money on this, you will not be disappointed by the specifications and features the Galaxy Note Edge.

The OnePlus One is already on the market for a while, but only recently without invite available. The Mi Note is still relatively new and have been reviewed recently. Both phablets are equipped with a full HD display and feature a Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB memory. They both have a 13 megapixel camera. The two thus have the necessary away from each other.
