BERLIN – While the Samsung Galaxy Note fifth time being to Europe, the IFA is full of them. Rumors that the device still our continent will reach there for a while and it would not surprise us if that is indeed going to happen. In this article we draw on our initial experience with the device.
The Galaxy Note 5 is not much other than a flat version of the Galaxy S6 + Edge, which we have already reviewed. The smartphone has almost the same specifications. A seven Exynos Octa processor, 4GB of RAM, a 5.7-inch Quad HD display and an optically stabilized 16 megapixel camera for example. The battery capacity is 3000mAh exactly the same.
The design is actually a bit reversed by Samsung. The smartphone still has an aluminum frame with glass front and rear. Where is the S6 + Edge has a curved front glass, the Galaxy Note has five at the back. It feels a lot more natural as we are concerned, but do look less futuristic. It is rather a matter of taste what you nicer. In any case, the Note 5 is constructed from premium materials, beautifully finished and it sits comfortably in the hand. A disadvantage is that the battery is not removable, the memory is not expandable and that the phone is very sensitive to fingerprints.
The main addition in this Note is of course the pin. That sits at the bottom and works through a kind of click system, which we at first glance seemed very convenient. Benefit for the nerve tendons beneath us is that now, as can click on an actual pen, with the tip of the stylus. The most important of the S Pen is of course that you can easily take notes, and for example, can sign documents. Through a revamped interface Samsung has added all sorts of extra features, which the example is very easy to take screenshots using the stylus. These are features that most people will forget quickly, but if you know it successful in your workflow integration can be very useful.
Most of the other facets of the Galaxy Note 5 are similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6 + Edge. For more information we refer you to our review of that extension. It comes in short means that the phone in terms of screen, speed, camera and fingerprint scanner at the top of the market state. The interface is not the prettiest we’ve seen, but does offer some useful extras, especially in multitasking area.
