IFA: Samsung launches Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge with curved screen edge – Hardware.Info

Samsung today announced two smartphones which have long been rumors went. First, the Korean manufacturer is launching the Galaxy Note 4, a 5.7-inch smartphone with 2560×1440 pixel quad-HD Super AMOLED display, powered by a 2.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 805. The Galaxy Note 4 is thus a direct successor introduced last year Note 3.

Camera and sound

 

In addition to its faster processor and improved – but not larger – display, the Note 4 also a 16 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and a 3.7 megapixel front face camera lens with a maximum angle of 120 degrees. Ideal for making (group) selfies, says Samsung. The device has 3GB of RAM and 32 or 64GB of built-in storage, which can be via a microSD memory card.

The Galaxy Note 4 is also equipped with “multiple mics’ for better noise canceling and the ability to recognize individual voices to sound recordings and separate play. Samsung additionally promises an improved pen experience, and speaks of “premium yet functional design. The frame of the Note 4 would be metal, while the soft textured back cover ‘is made of plastic.

 

 

 
 

Note Edge

 

In addition to the Galaxy Note, Samsung also announced four Edge of the Galaxy Note, a device that does not (yet) incidentally to the Netherlands. Basically, this unit is the same as the Note 4, the same processor, cameras and other possibilities. The Edge Note, however, equipped with a 5.6 inch display screen which 2560×1440 pixels + 160 counts. That extra strip with a width of 160 pixels is located on the right side of the device and bends backwards to the edge. Through the new “Edge Screen UX ‘is it possible to read notifications and start some apps even if the (optional) cover over the screen is closed.

 

The Galaxy Note 4 in the Netherlands receives a suggested retail price of 799 euros and will be available from early October. Samsung Netherlands let us be known that the Note will be Edge.
